People are Getting Addicted to Facebook and Google: Study

The debut of social networking websites like Facebook, Twitter and Myspace have created new ways to socialize and interact with many people around the world in a more easier and convenient way. The recent studies about these users, found some startling things about the present situation.

According to the research firm Intersperience, which conducted a study on people deprived of their online habits- people are feeling very difficult to give up technology and are considering it as hard as quitting smoking or drinking. Out of 1000 people surveyed 53% of them reported feeling upset when deprived of internet connection. And 40% of them felt lonely when not able to go online.

As of 2011, there are 500,000,000 active facebook users and half of them are logged in on any given day. This shows 1 out of 13 people on the earth have an facebook account. About 28% people check out facebook on their smart phones before getting out of bed. Out of 206.2 million internet users in US 71.2% are on facebook. Facebook was the most searched term in 2010, which accounts for 2.11% of US searches. 57% people talk to people more online, than they do in real life. A record breaking 750 million photos were uploaded to facebook over New year’s weekend.

Similar to this, twitter too has huge follow up, while 88% of people are aware of facebook, 87% are aware of twitter. In facebook 41% of the people login every day and it is 27% in twitter. 60% of the twitter users are outside US.

These stats and the studies show how the social networking sites greatly impact the present generation. Anything beyond the limits is always dangerous. So, friends lets be active users of these sites but not active addicts.
