GM Focusing on the Smaller Markets

Car makers General Motors is mainly focusing on smaller auto markets to boost their sales in India. The officials from General Motors have said that they are trying to enter in to smaller towns also to cope up with the market slow down.

Company is planning to tap the smaller car markets for catching the opportunity. GM plans to establish 50 more outlets in India. GM already has 250 outlets all over India. Sales of their units were 60% in metros and 40% in non metros. But, they are planning to increase the 40% sales to 70% in non metros.

US car makers hope to achieve their sales target of 1.4 lakh units for this year which crosses the sales target of 1.2 lakh units in 2010. They have planned to reach 60% sales growth for the year 2011 along with 30% growth of market sales. General Motors has developed their smallest car 1.0 liter Beat Diesel for Indian economic market. They have plan to capture the non metro users with this small car models.
