The top two republicans Mitch McConnell and Elizabeth Dole are fighting to hold on to their Senates seats. 60 is number of seats needed to secure filibuster and to have full majority in the Senate, these are the two reasons for why republicans are concentrating in holding their seats.
New York Senate was very confident in picking a successful amount of larger number of seats and to have a successful election, McConnell says that winning 60 seats is possible. Democrats are pushing their abilities to maximum extent to win 60 seats through a Democratic agenda and which would prevent Republicans from blocking the seats.
McConnell is a minority leader has lot of attention on race and he has been elected as Senator 4 times. He says that race is tougher than last time because of his high profile position, bigger target. Dole was elected as Senate in 2002, her poll numbers were strong but Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee has spent lot of money in attacking her on two issues- her effectiveness and time spent in the state over past few years.
Everyday there is a close competition between them and race becomes more competitive. The results of the elections will solve all the questions about the both candidates.
