Aston Martin recently unveiled a mini-car Cygnet at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show. It revealed some of its details but not all. Aston Martin’s Cygnet looks like a slightly reworked version of the Toyota iQ mini-compact. Aston Martin entered into a partnership with Toyota almost a year back and this is the first model after their deal.
According to Aston Martin Chief Executive, Dr. Ulrich Bez, many of their customers asked for a small car which should be easier to park and cheaper to run for urban and city use. He said they wanted a compact car whose driving experience doesn’t feel altogether different from the other expensive vehicles in the market. So, they have decided to design and develop Cygnet keeping urban people in mind.
Aston Martin’s Cygnet is said to release reduced carbon dioxide emissions. The 3 meter long Cygnet may be a modified model of Toyota, but Aston Martin improvised it with unique headlights and distinctive grille. The interior is totally different with hand-stitched leather, aluminum grace the cockpit similar to regular Astons.
Cygnet’s price is estimated between $45,000 and $75,000 about two to four times the price of a basic iQ model. It is expected to hit roads by late 2010 or early 2011. The company said that it had no plans to sell in United States as of now. It also said that Aston martin owners get the first choice to own this vehicle.
Aston’s officials explain Cygnet as a creative, environmentally conscious, small-yet with presence and highly fuel efficient car for urban travel in style and luxury.
