Continuously, for the third consecutive year Facebook is rated as the the most searched word on the internet during the year 2011 according to the new report.
According to the report by online Measurement company Experian Hitwise, Facebook topped the search charts in the US, accounting for just over three percent of all searches, with a 46 percent rise in the year. The research company compiled the data, which also showed that four variations of the term Facebook were among the top 19 searched words in US on the web during the same year. You Tube occupied second place after Facebook in Top 10 list, which was in third place during 2010.
The report also revealed that, the search related social networking terms dominated the results, which accounted for 4.18 percent of the top 50 searches. This was an increase of 12 percent compared to the last year.
Among the most visited sites category, Facebook stood first again for the second consecutive year and accounted for 10.29 percent of all US visits between January and November 2011. The second place was occupied by Google with 7.70 percent of visits which was a 7 percent annual increase, followed by You tube with 3.17 percent.
