A police constable recently died saving people lives, part of his duty, which he loved most. Wife of police constable Bill Barker said that he loved the fact that he was helping others. Even the Prime Minister paid tribute to him saying ” he was a very heroic and very brave man”.
The constable Bill Barker (44) served with Cumbria Police for around 25 years. He was an excellent officer and had won a number of awards throughout his service.
Sources close to him said that he loved being a police officer and was a passionate biker. He leaves behind a wife and four children.
He had been diverting traffic off Northside Bridge near Workington when the incident occurred.
Local witnesses said he went to rescue a car, which got struck on the bridge. As he was leading the car away, the pavement of the bridge collapsed making him fall into the sea. He breathed his last serving the people.
