Illicit Drugs Easily Available In U.S: NDTA Report

Year by year drug smuggling is increasing very rapidly. In present condition illicit drugs are easily available in U.S market. Heroin, Cocaine, Marijuana, are easily available drugs but cocaine availability is slightly declined because of low production in Columbia. This is the conclusion, by 2010 National Drug Threat Assessment (NDTA) report.

According to Justice Department’s National Drug Intelligence Center report government is facing very difficult battle in the war on drugs. According to them, in 2010 drugs are more widely available than 2009. Only availability of Cocaine is declined in recent years. Since 2006, all national indicator including seizure, price, purity and workplace drug tests states the declination of Cocaine in U.S drugs market.

Apart from Cocaine other drugs like Marijuana are still widely available in U.S market because of the rising production in Mexico. According to report following conclusions are concluded:

  • The government expects that drug traffickers will establish the actual identity of players which will be a challenge for both financial institutions and law enforcement.
  • Drug traffickers are adapting many tactics like tunnels, low-flying small or ultra light aircraft” to smuggle marijuana across the border.  At the same time, the use of commercial airlines to smuggle drugs has been on the decline.
  • Asian drug trafficking organizations are emerging drugs supplier but Mexican drug traffickers still represent as the single greatest threat in drugs smuggling.

The report states that the drugs availability will likely increase in 2010, because of the increased production in south border.
